You Are Chosen
I believe one of the greatest studies we can make of God’s Word is that of our identity in Jesus. So many difficulties we face in life would be much less of an issue if we truly believed in our hearts the identity that we have in Jesus when we accept him into our hearts. For myself, having grown up in an abusive household with many traumas it feels like I have to strive extra hard to even begin to believe all the things that God has for me and who I am in Him. The things we tell our children matter. It is not enough to tell someone you love them, you have to show them. Love is a verb.
I knew for a long time God loved me but it was just head knowledge, I hadn’t accepted it into my heart. I still had the core belief that no-one could really love me. Especially those who were close to me and knew me more intimately and what daily life was like for me. If you find yourself in situations where you feel unloved, unworthy, like it is a struggle to get through the day. I challenge you to look into what you really believe about yourself. Ask yourself if this matches up with what God believes about you.
We cannot leave it upto the people around us to tell us who we are and how much we are loved. Everyone of us falls short, we all need the mercy and grace of God to make it through. When we can truly believe who we are in Jesus, we look less to the world around us for confirmation and we start to carry ourselves different. What other people think of us doesn’t matter. We focus in on what God says about us, and the direction and discipline he is giving to us. We can 100% know that God always has our best interests at heart and if we can relinquish control and allow him to make our decisions for us we will be able to lead a much richer and fuller life.
I have listed below some of the scriptures that I have personally used that have helped me discover who I am in Jesus and really take these truths to heart. God created you to be the person you are today, he has a plan for your life and it is good. If we can be fully surrendered to his will and obedient we can live knowing just how much he loves us and cares for us each and every day. You have been chosen by Him and he will not let you go or leave you. Amen.
God delights in me (2 Corinthians 9:11, Psalms 18:19)
I am dearly loved (Colossians 3:12)
I belong in the family of God (Romans 12:5)
God is my safety (Psalms 27:5, Psalms 32:7)
I am chosen (1 Thessalonians 1:4)
I am forgiven (Colossians 1:14)
I am already healed (1 Peter 2:24, Isaiah 53:5)
God is my strength and more than enough (Psalms 28:7)
I am only responsible for my own load (Galatians 6:2-5)
Repeat these truths of the Word over yourself daily. Remind yourself who you are in Jesus. Place them somewhere prominent you will see them throughout your day, meditate on them, accept them as truth into your heart. Do not underestimate the power the Word of God has to change your life.
There’s no healing in the hiding
I’ve suffered a lot of traumas in my life and the journey to healing has been a long one. A lot of how we walk through life is affected by our lived...
